Suddenly, Last Summer (1959)
aka De repente, el último verano · Improvvisamente l'estate scorsa · De repente en el verano · Plötzlich im letzten Sommer · In het heetste van de zomer
The only son of wealthy widow Violet Venable dies while on vacation with his cousin Catherine. What the girl saw was so horrible that she went insane; now Mrs. Venable wants Catherine lobotomized to cover up the truth.
🏳️🌈 Joseph L. Mankiewicz's intense Tennessee Williams adaptation explicitly centers its dark family mystery entirely on a grueling cover-up to hide the real-world horrific death of a gay man, Sebastian, lacking a lesbian plot.
